1. Our Commitment
Vertali Group, Inc. is committed to ensuring that Holiday Hub is accessible to all users, including those with disabilities. We strive to meet or exceed Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA conformance across the entire platform.
Accessibility is not an afterthought — it is built into our development process from the ground up.
2. Standards and Compliance
We target conformance with:
- WCAG 2.1 Level AA (primary target)
- Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act (US federal standard)
- EN 301 549 (European accessibility standard) where applicable
3. Accessibility Features
3.1 Perceivable
- Text alternatives: All meaningful images have appropriate alt text; decorative images are hidden from screen readers
- Colour contrast: All text meets a minimum contrast ratio of 4.5:1 against its background (7:1 for small text where possible)
- Colour independence: Information is never conveyed by colour alone — role badges include text labels, status indicators use icons alongside colour
- Responsive text: Text can be resized up to 200% without loss of functionality
- Responsive layout: Fully functional across mobile, tablet, and desktop viewports
3.2 Operable
- Keyboard navigation: Every interactive element is reachable and operable via keyboard
- Focus indicators: Visible, high-contrast focus rings on all focusable elements
- Skip links: Skip-to-content links are available for screen reader and keyboard users
- No time limits: There are no time-limited interactions (voting periods are measured in days, not seconds)
- No seizure-inducing content: No flashing content exceeding 3 flashes per second
3.3 Understandable
- Language: The page language is declared in HTML; content is written in clear, plain English
- Predictable navigation: Consistent sidebar, topbar, and page layout across all views
- Error identification: Form validation errors are clearly described with suggestions for correction
- Labels: All form controls have visible, associated labels
3.4 Robust
- Semantic HTML: Proper use of headings (h1-h6), lists, tables, and landmark regions (nav, main, footer)
- ARIA attributes: Used where semantic HTML alone is insufficient (e.g. dynamic content, custom controls)
- Valid markup: Pages pass HTML validation without critical errors
- Screen reader testing: Tested with VoiceOver (macOS), NVDA (Windows), and JAWS
4. Assistive Technology Compatibility
Holiday Hub has been tested with the following assistive technologies:
| Technology | Platform | Status |
|---|---|---|
| VoiceOver | macOS / iOS | Fully supported |
| NVDA | Windows | Fully supported |
| JAWS | Windows | Fully supported |
| ChromeVox | Chrome OS | Supported |
| Dragon NaturallySpeaking | Windows | Supported |
| Browser zoom (200%+) | All browsers | Fully supported |
| High contrast mode | Windows / browsers | Supported (dark theme provides inherent high contrast) |
5. Known Limitations
We continuously improve accessibility. Currently known areas where we are working to improve:
- Some complex data tables (voting results, reports) may benefit from additional ARIA row/column header associations
- The colour picker in admin settings relies on the browser's native colour input, which has variable accessibility across browsers
- PDF exports (if enabled in future) may require additional accessibility remediation
6. Feedback and Reporting
If you encounter any accessibility barriers while using Holiday Hub, we want to know. Please contact a platform administrator through The Haus with:
- A description of the barrier you encountered
- The page or feature where the issue occurred
- The assistive technology you were using (if applicable)
- Any suggestions for improvement
We commit to acknowledging accessibility reports within 2 business days and resolving critical barriers within 14 business days.
